Camp Sussex was the head quarters of the 8th Canadian Hussars Princess Louise's Militia.  This regiment traces it's origin back to the American Revolution of 1776 and the Virginia Regiment of Horse.  As such, it is the oldest regiment of cavalry in Canada.

These are some of the many displays

we have at our museum.

MILITARY MEMORABILIA

Many artifacts, photographs and memorabilia from the 8th Hussars and when Sussex was a military training base. There is also an extensive display dedicated to Princess Louise I and II, the most famous army mascots in their time.

RAILROAD MEMORABILIA

The Museum is home to many wonderful reminders of when trains played a vital role in rural New Brunswick life. Sussex is one of many communities around the province that sprang up around that artery of iron laid down in the 1800s.

The Kings County Model Railroad Club maintains a working scale model in the historic structure that welcomed travelers to nearby Apohaqui in years past. This real train station retains many signs of its working career.

A caboose and gatehouse are also available for exploring.
